For many years, motivation and self-regulation have been seen as imperative factor for successful learning. Psychologists and educators may associate this on the learner's level of motivation and self-regulation. This means that when learners are motivated and self-regulated, they exert more effort and work well on the tasks given to them. Putting this into classroom context, teachers can influence their learners' motivation and self-regulation. THINK Motivation is defined as the willingness of a person to accomplish a task. It is an internal state that could actually affect one's energy level and persistence in achieving a goal. For learners, it is the driving force that allows them to engage in school-related works. All learners vary in terms of their level of motivation and this is because of various factors, such as reinforcement and emotions, just to name a few. There are two types of motivation. Intrinsic motivation refers to the desire to accomplish a task not for external factors such as rewards, but for the sake of its accomplishment.
