The combustion process works when a fuel reacts with oxygen, producing heat and usually light. This reaction is also called burning. It is a rapid chemical reaction occurring in high temperatures.For combustion to happen, three things must be present: fuel, oxygen, and heat (this is called the fire triangle). When these three combine, the fuel burns, releasing energy, carbon dioxide, and water vapor. This is why fire gives off both heat and smoke.
