The philosophers’ views of the self shape how I see myself because they make me reflect on my identity, purpose, and choices in life. For example, Socrates’ idea of “knowing oneself” reminds me to always reflect on my actions and values. Descartes’ belief in “I think, therefore I am” helps me realize that my ability to think and make decisions defines who I am. Meanwhile, John Locke’s view that experience shapes identity makes me value learning from m past. These philosophies guide me to understand that my self is not only about my body, but also about my mind, experiences, and moral choices.
