Families are also responsible for meeting the basic needs of their members, such as food, shelter, protection, and emotional support. Strong families contribute to strong communities, while broken or neglected families can result in social problems like crime, poverty, and lack of discipline. In the Philippines, the family is considered the most important institution because it shapes the next generation of citizens. Without families, society would lose its structure and harmony. That’s why it is called the “basic unit of society.”
