I asked some of my relatives about the superstitions they still remember about weddings, and I wrote them down with their beliefs. One of my aunts said that the bride should not try on her wedding dress before the actual wedding day because it is believed to bring bad luck to the marriage. If this is disobeyed, the couple might face problems or even separation.Another one I learned from my grandmother is that dropping the wedding ring during the ceremony is a bad sign. They believe that if this happens, it could mean misfortune or even death for one of the partners.I also heard from my cousin that newlyweds should not travel far right after the wedding day because it is said to bring accidents or sickness. Disobeying this superstition is believed to put the couple in danger. When I asked my neighbor, she mentioned that breaking plates or glasses during the wedding celebration is actually considered a good sign because it symbolizes breaking away from bad spirits. But if it happens before the ceremony, they believe it’s unlucky and may cause the wedding not to push through smoothly. These are some of the superstitions I gathered. Even though not everyone believes them anymore, many still practice them out of respect for tradition or just to be safe[tex].[/tex]
