Gospel Reading – Luke 12:32–48Jesus says:“Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give alms; provide yourselves with purses that do not grow old, with a treasure in heaven that does not fail…Let your loins be girded and your lamps burning, and be like men who are waiting for their master… ready to open to him at once when he comes and knocks… Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes… You must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”ReflectionIn today’s Gospel, Jesus comforts us with tender assurance: “Do not be afraid, little flock.” Despite the uncertainties and anxieties that surround us, God delights in giving us the kingdom—eternal life marked not by scarcity, but by divine abundance.Yet, this gift calls for intentional living. We’re invited to let go of what distracts us, and instead, share generously and store up treasures in heaven—“where no thief approaches and no moth destroys” This means nurturing a heart aligned with God’s love and purpose.Jesus also emphasizes vigilance. The servant who watches and waits faithfully—for however long—is honored. Conversely, complacency in the face of expectation brings consequences. “To whom much is given, much will be required” reminds us that our lives carry responsibility. We are stewards of grace, called to live awake, aware, and actively loving.
