RA ( rheumatoid arthritis ) is a chronic autoimmune disease that primarily affects joints. It generally will result in inflammation of the synovial membrane, termed "synovitis," and thereafter damage cartilage and bone. This would usually end up causing pain and stiffness, leading to joint deformities.
