Codominance is a type of genetic inheritance where both alleles in a gene pair are fully expressed in a heterozygous individual. Instead of one allele being dominant over the other, both traits appear simultaneously and distinctly. This means neither allele masks the other, and the organism shows characteristics of both alleles at the same time. For example, in human blood types, a person with one allele for blood type A and one for blood type B has the AB blood type, expressing both A and B antigens equally. Another example is certain flowers or animals where both colors or patterns from different alleles show up clearly without blending.
