For Catholics, both global and local actions to protect the environment are important. However, Catholic social teaching encourages starting with what is close and within our reach. Local and national efforts allow individuals and communities to directly care for creation, which then contributes to the global good. As Pope Francis said in Laudato Si', "Local individuals and groups can make a real difference." Supporting the environment at the local level builds the foundation for stronger global impact.
