Filipino scientists have made a huge impact on the lives of Filipino people because their inventions and discoveries help solve problems in daily life and help the country progress. For example, Dr. Fe del Mundo, the first woman admitted to Harvard Medical School, improved child healthcare in the Philippines. Dr. Abelardo Aguilar discovered erythromycin, an antibiotic that has saved millions of lives. Filipino scientists like Gregorio Zara, who invented the videophone, showed that Filipinos can compete globally in technology. Their work inspires students like me to appreciate science and innovation, and proves that we can create things that help our communities and even the whole world.
