A Student Permit is the first type of license you need to apply for before becoming eligible to take the LTO driving exams. It is given to first-time applicants who want to learn how to drive legally in the Philippines.The Student Permit is valid for 1 year. During this time, the holder is allowed to practice driving but only if accompanied by a driver who holds a valid Non-Pro or Pro license.Important notes:You cannot drive alone with a Student Permit.After at least 1 month, you may be allowed to apply for a Non-Pro license.The Student Permit cannot be used as an official ID for banking or travel.It is issued only once and cannot be renewed. If your Student Permit expires before you get a Non-Pro license, you’ll have to reapply from the beginning.
