Yes, I found myself relating to Jose Rizal and even Felipe Buencamino in the movie GOMBURZA. Like them, I’m a student who is starting to understand the problems in our society. Seeing how they used education and courage to stand up for what’s right reminded me that even students like us have a voice.Rizal was inspired by the sacrifice of the three priests, and I felt the same when I watched their unfair trial and death. I was angry at the injustice, especially when Fr. Burgos was blamed for something he didn’t do. It made me think of times when people are judged because of race or beliefs.I also related to how the students in the film were full of hope but disappointed when the government betrayed their ideals. I realized that change is hard, but if we keep learning and speaking up, we can honor GOMBURZA’s legacy, just like Rizal did.
