Why carbonated drinks are not shaken before opening

Carbonated drinks are not shaken before opening because shaking increases the pressure inside the container. When shaken, the carbon dioxide gas dissolves less in the liquid and forms many tiny bubbles. Upon opening, these bubbles rapidly expand and escape, causing the drink to fizz violently and often spill out. So, shaking makes the drink burst out when opened.
