The earthworm has five pairs of aortic arches, commonly referred to as "hearts," located around segments 7 to 11 of its body. These structures function like hearts by pumping blood throughout the worm's body. They connect the dorsal (top) blood vessel and the ventral (bottom) blood vessel, helping circulate blood and maintain pressure. While not hearts in the same way as a human heart, they serve a similar role in circulatory function.
