The Rock CycleThe rock cycle may seem like it lasts forever, but it is always changing. Rocks constantly go through different stages in this cycle. The rock cycle is a series of natural processes that take thousands or even millions of years, but it never stops.Deep inside the Earth, there is extreme heat and pressure. This heat is so intense that it can melt rocks into a hot, liquid form called magma. This magma can then rise through cracks in the Earth’s crust, where it may eventually cool and form new igneous rock.Through other processes like weathering, erosion, compaction, and heat and pressure, rocks can transform into sedimentary or metamorphic rocks, continuing the endless cycle of rock formation and change.
