Reflection on Matthew 22:15–21In this passage, the Pharisees try to trap Jesus by asking if it is lawful to pay taxes to Caesar. Jesus responds wisely, saying, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” This teaches us an important lesson about responsibility and priorities. As citizens, we must follow lawful duties like paying taxes, but our ultimate loyalty and devotion belong to God. It reminds us to live with integrity—respecting both human authorities and our spiritual obligations.
