The New Bilibid Prison (NBP) is located at Sampaguita Road, Poblacion, Muntinlupa City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Its official address is 1776 Sampaguita Road, Muntinlupa, NCR, PH.Established in 1940, the NBP serves as the main insular penitentiary of the Philippines. It is managed by the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) under the Department of Justice (DOJ). The prison complex is situated within the NBP Reservation area in the Poblacion district of Muntinlupa City.As of October 2022, the NBP housed over 29,000 inmates, significantly exceeding its intended capacity of 6,345. Due to overcrowding and security concerns, the Department of Justice has suspended the admission of new inmates since July 2023 and plans to close the facility by 2028.
