I disagree with the proposed Charter Change at this time. Changing the 1987 Philippine Constitution is a serious decision that can affect the country’s political and economic future. While some say it may improve foreign investments and allow economic growth, there are also big risks—especially if done for the wrong reasons. One main concern is political abuse. Some politicians may use Charter Change to extend their power or remove checks and balances. If this happens, it could lead to more corruption and weaken democracy. Also, many Filipinos are not fully informed about the specific changes being proposed. There should be more public education and discussion before any major revision. People need to understand what is being changed, why it’s being changed, and how it will affect their lives.I believe the focus should be on implementing the current laws better, not changing the whole system. Problems like poverty, education gaps, and corruption can be solved with better leadership and honest governance, not just constitutional change. While improvements may be needed in some areas, now is not the right time for Charter Change. The people must be fully informed and protected from political manipulation. True progress comes from serving the people first—not just changing the rules.
