Francisco Balagtas had eleven (11) children with his wife, Juana Tiambeng. Although the names of his children are not mentioned in historical records, it is clear that he was one of the Filipinos who had a large family during the Spanish era.As a father, Balagtas strived to be a good head of the household. He worked diligently, served in the local government, and continued to write literary works. One of the most unforgettable parts of his life was his final request before he died: he did not want his children to become poets because of the hardships he experienced as a writer. Although he loved literature, he wanted to protect his children from the pain and struggles he had gone through. In this, he showed his care and concern as a father.
