Answer (1)

These cells have key differences that reflect their specialized functions. The human ciliated cell removes debris from airways, while the plant cell is structured to efficiently capture light energy for photosynthesis.a) i. In a human, a cell of type A would normally be found in the respiratory tract or airways, specifically in the trachea (windpipe) and bronchi. This is a ciliated epithelial cell, recognizable by the hair-like projections (cilia) at the top that help move mucus and trapped particles up and out of the airways.a) ii. In a plant, a cell of type B would be found in the leaf. This appears to be a typical plant cell with a rectangular shape and visible cell wall, matching the structure of leaf mesophyll cells that are involved in photosynthesis.b) Cell B has a thick outer layer called the cell wall. This is made of cellulose. The cytoplasm of cell B contains many chloroplasts that are used in the process of photosynthesis. The large permanent vacuole is full of cell sap and this helps to maintain the shape of the cell.
