Republic Act 6541, also known as the National Building Code of the Philippines, was later revised and replaced by Presidential Decree 1096 (PD 1096), which is the current National Building Code of the Philippines.The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is the government agency responsible for implementing and regulating PD 1096. The DPWH oversees the enforcement of building standards, ensures compliance with the code, and monitors construction activities throughout the country.At the local level, Local Building Officials (LBOs), under the supervision of the DPWH, are responsible for issuing building permits, conducting inspections, and ensuring that construction projects conform to the provisions of the National Building Code.
