Ang mga kuwentong bayan ang maiikli lamang at maaninag dito ang mga kultura, tradisyon, at kaugalian ng isang bayan. May ilang mga lugar na may mga paboritong karakter sila kung saan sila ay may kinabibidahan na mga kuwentong-bayan na hindi lamang iisa; tulad nina Juan Tamad, Juan Pulong, at si Pilandok.
