example a pencil case ,the pencilcase is on a table you move the pencilcase to another table.The pencils inside the case didn't change position why? because the pencils inside had a reference point which is the pencilcase and the pencil didn't change position at all the pencilcase move because of the reference point was the table and you move the pencils case to a other table that why you are able to say if the object has motion or not
