Chosen Story: Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery (fave book ko )I chose the novel Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. The book tells about the story of Anne Shirley, an 11-year-old orphan who was sent by mistake to two middle-aged siblings, Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, to the fictional town of Avonlea in Prince Edward Island, Canada. The novel tells how Anne, with her very vivid imagination and wonder, makes her way through life with the Cuthberts, in school, and in her town. Anne of Green Gables tells many messages. One of them is to embrace your true self. While Anne Shirley made many reckless mistakes and faced through many challenges, she still embraced her kind and optimistic nature, because that makes her, her. Another message is to that making mistakes is part of growing up. Mistakes helps us learn. It is part of the learning process. We can think back on these experiences and make better decisions in future situations. As Anne Shirley says it: “Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it.” The reason why I chose this novel is because of how amazing the author captures the innocence and optimisim of an 11-year-old girl, and also how the nature and community around her was described. You could relate to Anne’s thoughts and perspectives on many kinds of situations, and also on her vivid imagination. How the environment was described, such as the flowers, the trees, the sky, and many other details make you feel like you’re in the story. Overall, it is a very nice novel.
