Please take note that I am not familiar with the story / movie / literary text. So the answer is based on my perspective. I believe that money does not buy happiness. It is only a way to help achieve it. Let’s say you are a very wealthy person who can buy everything in the world. Are you truly happy with it? Does being wealthy and owning everything make you happy? Now, let’s say you are a poor man who is struggling to make ends meet. They cannot afford even their basic needs. Are the hardships and lack of money making him feel unhappy in life? In those two situations, it is actually up to the person whether to feel happy or not. They are the ones who get to decide whether they are content with what they have. Maybe the rich man is content that he fulfilled his dream of being wealthy, meanwhile the poor man is happy that he is still alive and well even with all the struggle. Money does not get to decide a person’s happiness. The person themselves do it. In conclusion, money does not buy happiness.
