Folds occur on rocks when they are pushed towards one another on oppositesides of a plane. This results from bending or folding on the layer of rocks. The twotypes of folds are anticline and syncline. Anticlines or upfolds are upward arches inthe layer of rocks while the synclines or downfolds are the downward arches.
