Answer:1.As a substance transitions from solid to gas, its particles gain more kinetic energy. This causes them to move faster, break free from their rigid structure, and spread out further apart. In short, particles go from vibrating in place to moving randomly and freely.2.Gases compress easily because their particles are far apart and have weak attractions. The Kinetic Molecular Theory says gas particles move randomly with lots of empty space between them. Applying pressure forces these particles closer together, reducing the volume. Solids and liquids have particles already close together, making compression much harder.
