Clues and format are given to you.A Short History of FlightFrom the time people first told of Icarus, who tried to fly on wings made from feathers, people have beenfascinated by the idea of flight. In this report I will show people worked to make this idea a reality. In the fifteenth and yearly sixteenth centuries, Leonardo da Vinci examined the wings and talls of birds. Hefilled his notebooks with sketches for machines that would either flap or glide. Three hundred years later in France, the Montgolfier brothers experimented with hot air balloons. In 1783 they a sent a man 80 feet into the air, achieving the first successful flight in the lighter-than-aircraft.During the nineteenth century, interest in da Vinci's sketches grew, but this time people began to study hisfixed wing aircraft. In 1981 Otto Lienthal, a German engineer, became the first person to pilot a glider, one modeledon da Vinci's sketches. In the United States, Wilbur and Orville Wright continued Lienthal's work. They put an engineon one of the gliders and made the first successful powered flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, in 1903.After that came tremendous development in aircraft. The first jet planes of World War Il evolved intotranscontinental airlines. Then, In 1961, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin made the first manned flight into space. In1969, Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin of the United States became the first humans to set foot on the moon. Finally,in 1981, U.S. astronauts John Young and Robert Crippen made the first fight in the space shuttle. From such simple beginnings as the story of Icarus' bird wings came the knowledge that people could travelto distant planets. Today scientists talk about nuclear-powered rockets to fly to the stars. Only our unlimitedimagination can tell us where people will go from there.Give me the early days of flight of this story
